Graphs from Study All data have been acquired by Greenkeepers using Punctus. This year we carried this study for the first time on a small scale and will offer it on an ongoing basis as part of the Punctus-Leasing package. Denominations of golf courses: b 18 holes c 18 holes + short course d 27 holes Semirough
Course C1 (18 holes): The members asked for large Semirough with 1st and 2nd cut. The size of the Semirough was later on reduced by 20% to reduce cost. ![]() Greens
Courses C1 and B2 gave reason for a study on the impact of aging greens - Man-Hours spent in 2007 are almost identical - size of greens is the same - Age: C1 -> 3 years, B2 -> 40 years - According to the Head Greenkeeper of B2 very intense aerationis required to maintain greens in good shape. The time required rises with every year. ![]() Maintenance (see chart below)
Main difference: C1: much time is spent on high quality maintenance (hand mowing, spoon feeding). B2: much time is spent on intense aeration and spraying (chemicals). Questions: - How much time is tied up with the extra work load? - How many additional machine hours, chemicals, sand etc are required (cost)? - How much additional disturbance is inflicted on the players (quality)? - How much money is spent on the intense maintenance and how much less is earned during times of greater disturbance (reduced greenfee)? ![]() Impact
- approx. 500 man-hours extra effort - plus machine hours - 450+ tons of sand p.a. - significant disturbance of the game ... Would you like to know how much
this costs?
